Lake Coleman

Bob Gonzales, age 81, of Lake Coleman, died Thursday, March 17, 2022, at Holiday Hill Nursing Home Allen Center.

Recital of the Holy Rosary will be at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2022, followed by a visitation at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.  Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 303 East College Avenue, in Coleman with Father Laurent Mvondo officiating.  Interment will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery.  Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home in Coleman.  Visitation hours will begin at noon on Monday, March 21, 2022, at Stevens Funeral Home.

He was born Robert Gonzales on March 12, 1941, in Monahans, Texas to Federico Gonzales and Faustina Armendaris Gonzales.  He grew up in Monahans and Wink and graduated from Wink High School in 1959.  After graduation, Bob attended the University of Texas at El Paso.  Bob then went to work in the oil fields working on the drilling and completion team.  He retired after 50 years of service.  Bob married Joann Shahan on July 13, 1979.  After retirement, Bob and Joann relocated to Lake Coleman to make their home. Bob became a member of the Lake Coleman Volunteer Fire Department where he volunteered many hours of service.   Joann preceded him in death on November 7, 1993.  Bob then married Naomi Burrus in 1998 at Lake Coleman.

Bob enjoyed life and living out on the lake.  He was always up for playing a round of cards, golfing with a friend, playing in pool tournaments, or competing in a game of darts.  His family and friends will miss him.

Also preceding Bob in death are his parents, Federico and Faustina Gonzales, and two brothers, Fred Gonzales, and Roberto Gonzales.

He is survived by his wife, Naomi Gonzales of Lawrence, Kansas; two sons, Terry Gonzales and wife Annette Mendoza of Wink, and Bobby Gonzales, Jr. of Waco; one daughter, Lisa Murphy of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Maximina Houston and husband Herb of Yuma, Arizona, and Effie Gonzales of Wink.

Memorials are suggested in memory of Bob to the Lake Coleman Volunteer Fire Department, 140 Scenic Drive, Coleman, Texas 76834.
