He was born Raymond Edwin Habiger on August 20, 1941, in Waite Park, Minnesota to George Andrew Habiger and Hildegard Elizabeth Forster Habiger. Raymond grew up in Waite Park and St. Cloud, Minnesota. He graduated from Cathedral High School in 1959. After graduation, Raymond wanted to travel all over the world. He joined the United States Navy and proudly served his country for over 20 years. With his career in the Navy, Raymond was stationed all over the world, including San Diego, California, Japan, Hawaii, and Corpus Christi. He was aboard the Maiden Voyage of Kittyhawk where he traveled to the Philippines, South America, and Brazil. Raymond married Nell Brown on March 22, 1966, in Coleman. After his well-deserved retirement from the Navy, Raymond and Nell relocated from Hawaii to Coleman. He then attended Cisco Jr. College and earned an Associate degree.

Raymond enjoyed doing carpentry work, gardening, and reading the daily newspaper and Bible. He was a devout Christian serving the Lord in his daily activities. His fervent daily reading of the Bible and serving others was an especially important aspect in his life. Raymond was a member of the Elm Street Church of Christ in Coleman where he served as a deacon and ran the sound system for many years. His greatest love was spending time with his family, especially his three grandchildren. We will miss Raymond but rejoice that he is now with our Lord and no longer in pain.

Raymond is preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Irene, Laverne, Bernice, Baby Joan, and Mary; his brothers, Alfred, George, Bob, Donnie, Dick, and Mike.

He is survived by his wife, Nell Habiger of Coleman; his children, LeAnn Duus and husband Rodney of Goldthwaite, and Bill Habiger of Coleman; three grandchildren, Sarah Duus of Austin, Tim Duus of Austin, and John Duus of Friona; one brother, David Joseph Habiger and wife Joan of Ironton, Minnesota; and multiple nieces and nephews.
