Mabel (Eppler) Williams

Mabel Williams, age 97, beloved mother and grandmother, died on Sunday, September 19, 2021, at Holiday Hill Nursing Home.  You are invited to attend the funeral service for Mabel at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 21, 2021, in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Guy Lowe officiating.  The family would appreciate it,  if you do attend the service,  that you wear a mask and practice social distancing. There will be no formal visitation but you are welcome to come by the funeral home on Monday, September 20,  between 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. to pay your respects and sign her guestbook.   Interment will follow in the Coleman Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

She was born Mabel Evelyn Eppler on August 28, 1924 in Hamilton, Texas, a daughter of E. R. Eppler, Jr. and Cornelia Ann Havens Eppler.  She grew up in Hamilton until moving to Coleman County in 1936.  She attended school at Rockwood.  On December 3, 1939 she married Jesse Williams at the Shields Baptist Church.  He preceded her in death on December 10, 2000.  Mabel worked at the Jinright Sewing Factory in Coleman.  She went to work at Overall-Morris Memorial Hospital while simultaneously taking training to become a licensed vocational nurse.  She worked at the hospital and both Leisure Lodge Nursing Home (now Coleman Healthcare) and Holiday Hill Nursing Home.  She also worked in Dr. Fenella Schaeffer’s office.  Mabel was a hard worker who took care of her family while working full time and attending school.  She was a member of First Baptist Church.  She will be deeply missed by her family.

Mabel was preceded in death by her husband, all of her brothers and sisters, and three granddaughters.

She is survived by five sons, Donald Williams and wife Linda of Coleman, Leland Williams and wife Gaynell of Brookesmith, Gary Williams and wife Patty of Leander, Larry Williams and wife Shirley of Leander and Danny Williams of Coleman County; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson.

The family has asked for memorial donations is memory of Mabel be sent to Coleman Home Health and Hospice, 115 West Street, Coleman, Texas 76834.
