Obituary

Kay Bunting, age 75, of Novice and Abilene, died Saturday, May 20, 2023, at Coleman County Medical Center.

The family will host a time of visitation from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, May 29, 2023, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.  Family and friends are invited to a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at Elm Street Church of Christ, 216 W. Elm Street, in Coleman with Roy Meyer, pulpit minister at Lawn Church of Christ, officiating.  Interment will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home in Coleman.

She was born Elizabeth Kay Hudson on September 28, 1947, in Coleman to Joe Hudson and Anna Aachte Hudson.  She grew up in Novice and attended Novice schools until the eighth grade.  Kay then attended school in Coleman and graduated from Coleman High School as Salutatorian.  Kay then graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in Mathematics.  She married Rick Bunting, III on November 23, 1973, in Novice.  With this union three sons were born, Joseph, Tim, and Mark.

Kay was a rancher her entire life.  She enjoyed being out on the ranch and being with her animals.  Kay had love for each and everyone.  She loved her family and grandchildren immensely.  That love overflowed to her church family at Lawn Church of Christ, volunteering to help those that were ill or in need.  Kay also volunteered for the prison ministry and helped bring people to know Christ.  Proverbs 31 describes a virtuous woman, which perfectly describes Kay.  Because she trusts God with tomorrow, she can have peace for today. Kay was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.  Her love and kindness will always be remembered and cherished.

Preceding Kay in death are her parents, and her husband, Rick Bunting.

She is survived by her three sons, Joseph Bunting and wife Aimee of Lubbock, Tim Bunting and wife Misty of San Angelo, and Mark Bunting and wife Kim of Abilene; seven grandchildren, Kaytlyn, Gage, Cooper, Brooklyn, Blakely, Paisley, and Kinsley; one brother, Jerry Hudson of Novice; and one sister, Jo Ann Hudson of Abilene; and nieces and nephews, Clayt, Hillary, and Weston.

Pallbearers will be Gage Bunting, Cooper Bunting, Cody Arrington, James Bishop, Trey Walton, and Adam Horne.  Honorary pallbearers will be Bishop Powell and her friends at Lawn Church of Christ.

The family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be made in memory of Kay to the Cherokee Home for Children at www.chc4kids.org or to  the Christian Service Center at www.csabilene.org.

We invite you share fond memories and words of comfort and condolence with the Bunting family by signing the virtual guestbook on Kay’s tribute page at www.stevensfuneralhome.com.  Stevens Funeral Home is honored to serve the Bunting family.
