January 25, 1951 — June 22, 2022

Novice

Gordon Copeland, also called husband, dad, brother, grandad, uncle, Torchy and Cods, left this life behind him on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at his residence in Novice.  He was 71 years old.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.   Arrangements were made by Stevens Funeral Home in Coleman.

Gordon was born January 25, 1951 in Brownwood, the son of Glen Copeland and Udell Windham Copeland.  He grew up in Brown and Coleman Counties and attended school at Santa Anna where he graduated in 1969.  For over 50 years, he was a heavy equipment operator and traveled all across the USA.  He was a perfectionist when it came to his job and he didn’t believe in cutting corners.  For 25 years, his wife, Jackie traveled with him and he taught her to operate heavy equipment with the same eye to detail and perfection.

On December 26, 1992 he married Jackie Barnett in Oklahoma and they celebrated almost 30 years of marriage.  In 2015, they retired to their home in Novice.  He was a member of the Church of Christ in Santa Anna.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Diane Sindt and nephew Kevin Blanton.

He is survived by his wife, Jackie Copeland of Novice; two children, Steven Dunaway and wife Myla of Notice and Ruth Ann and husband David Snodgrass of Austin; sister, Paula Blanton of Santa Anna; two grandchildren, Alyssa Snodgrass and Blake Snodgrass; three nieces, Jason and Elisha Potts, Jonas and D’Lise Barboza and Michelle Sindt; one nephew, Steven and Samantha Blanton; two great-nieces, Sophie and Sydney Blanton.

Memorials may be made in Gordon’s memory to the donor’s favorite charity.

Please leave kind thoughts and condolences for the family on his tribute page at www.stevensfuneralhome.com.  Stevens Funeral Home is honored to serve the Copeland family.

The family would like to thank Coleman Home Health and Hospice and Dr. Atwood for the excellent care they provided Gordon in his last few weeks of life.  They send a special thank you to Bambi Rambo for her dedication and care.
