Goldie L. (Royall) Barnett

Goldie L. Barnett, age 89, of Coleman, received her angel wings on Monday, November 28, 2022, at her residence under the care of her family and hospice.  Funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, December 3, 2022, in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 W. Pecan Street, Coleman, with Pastor Craig Thames, of Bible Baptist Church,  officiating.  Interment will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery.  Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home.

She was born Goldie Lee Royall on March 5, 1933, in Anson, Texas to Frank James Royall and Eura Lee Isbell Royall.  She grew up in Littlefield where she graduated from high school in 1950.   On May 25, 1950, she married Wayne Barnett in Littlefield and they have celebrated 72 years together.  After living in Littlefield for three years, they moved to Denver, Colorado for 18 months and then moved to Houston.  While living in Houston, she attended Business College and Junior College.   From 1963-2002, she worked with her husband in their gun repair shop in Houston, where she kept meticulous books and did whatever else needed to be done.    After retiring, they moved to Coleman and have lived here since that time.  She was a member of the Bible Baptist Church.   She was a Sunday School teacher and worked with the children’s department for many years. She was a devoted Girl Scout Leader and mentor to many young people. She would open her home to friends, strangers and relatives who needed a place to stay.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne Barnett of Coleman; two children, Kathy Sue Fields of Huffman and Wesley Wayne Barnett and wife Andrea of Fredericksburg; 7 grandchildren, Amanda Pike and husband Brian of Huffman, Jason Fields and wife Sharon of Huffman, Rusty Barnett and wife Kelly of New Waverly, Cody Barnett and wife Danita of Fredericksburg, Buck Barnett and wife Jennifer of Stonewall, Jon Pancratz and wife Stephanie of Comfort and Brock Smith and family of Westlake, Louisiana; 15 great-grandchildren; one brother, James W. Royall of Coleman; many loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Pallbearers will be Cody Barnett, Buck Barnett, Jason Fields, Tucker Pike, Chance Fields and Justin Fields.

Honorary pallbearers will be Tripp Barnett, Brock Smith and Rusty Barnett.
