Elizabeth Marie Waugh

August 23, 1983 — June 13, 2022

Houston

Elizabeth Marie Waugh, age 38, of Houston, beloved daughter of Jane and Mark Price of Coleman, was welcomed into her Heavenly Father’s arms on June 13, 2022.  The family will host a visitation on Friday, June 24, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, Coleman, Texas.  Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 25, at the First United Methodist Church, 500 W. Liveoak Street, Coleman, Texas.  Rev. David Medley will officiate.  Interment will be in the White Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Elizabeth was born on August 23, 1983, in San Antonio, Texas.  She grew up in Austin and Midland, Texas and Slidell and Abita Springs, Louisiana.  She graduated with High Honors from Fontainebleau High School in Mandeville, Louisiana, and attended the University of Louisiana in Lafayette.  She transferred to Columbia College in Chicago where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fashion Design & Merchandising.  Always driven to help others and having an abiding love for medicine, Elizabeth decided to switch careers to Nursing.  She completed nursing school at Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  While practicing nursing full-time, she went on to earn her BSRN and was working toward her MSRN.

Liz, as she preferred to be called as an adult, worked as an RN first at Memorial Hermann and then CHI St. Luke’s in Houston, where she passionately cared for critically ill patients. She was transferring to Abilene Regional Hospital to be closer to her parents when a tragic automobile accident almost took her life and robbed her of the ability to continue working in the profession she loved.  Liz was fanatical about nutrition, health, and physical fitness, often happy to offer unsolicited advice on any of these! She was a quick study and, under Mark’s tutelage, became a fine shot with both rifle and handguns.  Liz adored her pets, especially Jewel, Rudy and Miko.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Slidell, Louisiana.  She is deeply mourned and will be greatly missed by innumerable friends and family.

Survivors include her parents, Jane and Mark Price of Coleman and Jeff Waugh of Johnson City; godfather Jeffrey Paul Elliott; aunts and uncles, Morriss Graham, Janis Winn, and Ed and Emily Guldy; close cousins, Dr. Anthony Winn, his wife Sky and their daughter Remy, Ashley Winn and Alina Guldy; two great-aunts, Joy Morriss and Lucy Nell Evans; and, of course, her beloved Miko.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her grandparents, Reid and Mary Graham, Howard and Gene Waugh, and Gale and Margarete Price.

The family suggest that memorials be made to Red Collar Rescue of Houston at Red Collar Rescue or to the neurocognitive research organization of your choice.
