David Linden Morgan

David Morgan, age 72, of Lake Coleman, died Thursday, July 8, 2021, at Hendrick Hospice Care in Abilene.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 19, 2021, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman with Dr. David Medley, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating.  Inurnment with military honors will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Texas State Veteran’s Cemetery, 7457 W. Lake Road, in Abilene.  Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home in Coleman.

He was born David Linden Morgan on May 30, 1949, in San Diego, California to Linden Bert Morgan and Kathleen Larue Anderson Morgan.  David grew up in Bishop, Texas and graduated from Bishop High School.  He then graduated from Southwest Texas State University where he became a Texas State Trooper.  He married Bobbie Gerdes on December 13, 1969, in Bishop.  With this union came their two sons, Eric and Gregg.  David was drafted and proudly served in the United States Army.  After receiving an honorable discharge, David returned to Texas to continue his lifelong career as a Texas State Trooper. David worked in Rockport, Seguin, Borger, Corpus Christi, and Del Rio.  He also served as the interim Chief of Police in Del Rio.  David served over five years as the Bee County Emergency Medical Service coordinator.  He loved to serve the public making many friends along his journey.  David also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and cooking.  He was a member of the Val Verde Masonic Lodge #646 in Del Rio and the First United Methodist Church in Coleman.  David was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather.  He will be missed by all who knew him.

David is preceded in death by his parents, Linden and Kathleen Morgan.

He is survived by his wife, Bobbie Morgan of Lake Coleman; two sons, Eric Morgan and wife Teri of Pipe Creek, Texas and Gregg Morgan and wife Christina of Lubbock; five grandchildren, Gage, Zachary, Makinna, Taylor, and Kyle; and one sister, Sue Thomas and husband Ron of Seguin.
