Antonio Quintanilla, age 79, of Coleman, died Sunday, April 10, 2022, at Encompass Health and Rehabilitation in Abilene.

The family will host a visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 14, 2022, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel. Family and friends are invited to a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 15, 2022, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Bo Whitaker officiating. Interment will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 7457 W. Lake Road, Abilene, Texas 79601. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.

Antonio was born September 29, 1942, in McAllen, Texas to Andres Quintanilla and Julia Lopez Quintanilla. He grew up in McAllen and graduated from McAllen High School. Antonio proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Antonio married Margaret Cruz on March 6, 1965, in Abilene, Texas. While living in Abilene, Antonio worked as a rehabilitation counselor for the blind. In 1988, Antonio and Margaret moved to Coleman. He then worked for Cornerstone Community Action as a MHMR counselor, retiring in 2004. Antonio was a member of the VA support group that met at Lemons Restaurant in Brownwood and was a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Brownwood. He enjoyed farming, working in his yard, working on his truck, and playing with his pets. Antonio loved his family, friends, and country. His kindness and loving spirit will be missed.

Preceding Antonio in death are his parents, Andres and Julia Quintanilla.

Antonio is survived by his wife, Margaret Quintanilla of Coleman; his daughter, Melissa Sosa and husband Santos of Irving; his son, Michael Quintanilla and wife Kate of Broomfield, Colorado; his daughter, Marva Tarver of Irving; two grandchildren, Madeline Jones and Santos Sosa, III; and four sisters, Marta Del Bosque of Bakersfield, California, Margarita Gonzalez of Emmett, Idaho; Magdalena and husband Alex Yepez of Lake Brownwood, Texas, and Marianela Morgan of McFarland, California.
