Willie Pearl Baker

Willie Pearl Baker, 90, of Coleman, died Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at Estrella Oaks Rehab and Care Center in Georgetown. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 11, 2017 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman. Burial will be in the Coleman City Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

She was born Willie Pearl Farris, the youngest of ten siblings, on April 20, 1927 in Whon to Robert Fox Farris and Margie Green Givens Farris. She grew up and attended schools in Santa Anna, Coleman and Talpa. On December 5, 1944, she married Curtis Franklin “Sammy” Baker in Coleman. She loved playing dominoes, “42” and Bingo. She also volunteered at the Coleman Senior Center and enjoyed visiting with everyone. She attended Emmanuel Baptist Church for many years.

Survivors include three children, Cheryl Erskine of Georgetown, Curtis D. Baker and wife, Cindye, of Abilene, Marty Baker of Georgtown; eight grandchildren, Dave Erskine of Lockhart, Chad Gray of Goldthwaite, Audra Tussing of Round Rock; Jamye Huffman of Abilene, Jennifer Scott of Charleston, South Carolina, Julye Baker of Abilene, Menda Kae Speckels of Buda, Myles Baker of Georgetown; 15 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and one brother-in-law, Billy Baker of Texas City.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sammy on September 23, 2011 and six brothers and three sisters.

There will be a visitation from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 11, 2017 at the funeral home.
