William Roy Bond, Jr.

William Roy Bond, Jr, 95, of Fort Worth, died Sunday, June 9, 2019 at his residence.  Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 13, 2019 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman.  Funeral service with Military Honors will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 9, 2019 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Chas Shira, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating.  Burial will be in the Coleman City Cemetery.  Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

William Roy Bond, Jr. was born July 26, 1923 in Novice to William Roy Bond, Sr. and Rena Gaines Bond.  He grew up in Novice and graduated from Novice High School.  He served in the United States Army during the Ardennes Campaign and Rhineland Campaign, receiving two Purple Hearts, Asiatic Pacific Ribbon, European-Asiatic-Middle Eastern Ribbon with two Bronze Stars.  After being honorably discharged from the Army, Mr. Bond attended Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, earning his bachelor’s degree in just two and half years.  He married Ima Love Seals in 1945 in Coleman.

Mr. Bond worked for Mobil Oil, now Exxon/Mobil as an executive for over 30 years before retiring.  After retiring, he moved back to Coleman for several years, working for Taylor Motor Company delivering cars and for Coleman ISD as a substitute teacher.  He later moved to Irving.  He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, devoted Christian and spent many hours studying his Bible.  Mr. Bond was a member of Plymouth Park Baptist Church, where he served as a lay preacher.

Survivors include his wife, Ima Bond of Fort Worth; one daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Scott Mauldin of Haslet; one granddaughter, Bailee Mauldin of Haslet; one brother and sister-in-law, Guy and JoAnn Bond of San Angelo and one sister, Reba Jo Atkins of Georgetown.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
