William “Bill” Lloyd Mann, 74, of Coleman, Texas, died peacefully on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at Hendrick Hospice Care in Abilene. He was born on May 15, 1952, in Coleman, Texas.

Bill grew up in Coleman and graduated from Coleman High School in 1970. He later attended the University of Texas in Austin, where he famously majored in cruising MoPAC (55 MPH speed limit) …with and “illegal smile”…at 15 MPH, a reflection of the humor and wit that remained part of his personality throughout his life. Bill was known for being outgoing, quick with a joke, and able to make others laugh and smile.

For more than 47 years, Bill served as a lab technician at Coleman County Medical Center. He loved his work and formed many life-long friendships there. His sense of humor, and at times his stubbornness, will long be remembered in the hallways of the hospital. He cared deeply for patients and was known for the gentle hand he brought to their care.

In 1974, Bill married Patricia Basham in Coleman, beginning a marriage that spanned 52 years. He was also a devoted member of First Methodist Church in Coleman and the Men’s Downtown Sunday School Class. He was deeply knowledgeable about the Bible and could quote scripture from memory, a gift that reflected the importance of his faith in daily life.

Bill enjoyed golfing, reading, and cheering on University of Texas football. Whether at work, at church, or among family and friends, he brought warmth, laughter, and a lively spirit that will be remembered with affection.

He is survived by his wife, Pat Mann; his sons, Mark Mann and Keaven Mann; his grandchildren, Kyah Mann and Keara Mann; and his brothers, Bob Mann and wife Sue, Charles Mann and wife Gloria, and Jim Mann and wife Carol. Bill is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousin who will miss him. He was preceded in death by his father, Morris D. Mann; his mother, Sue Moseley Mann; and his brother, Tom Mann.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at First Methodist Church, 500 West Live Oak Street, in Coleman. All are invited to celebrate his remarkable life.

Bill’s life was marked by devotion to his family, faithful service to his community, and a joyful spirit that lifted those around him. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.

The family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be made to Coleman Senior Center Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 785, Coleman, Texas 76834 or to Christian Family Ministries, P.O. Box 105, Coleman, Texas 76834.
