Wilfred Lester, a dedicated and accomplished individual, passed away on June 9, 2024, in Temple, Texas. Born on November 23, 1945, in Oberlin, Louisiana, Wilfred led a fulfilling life that touched the hearts of many.

Wilfred's journey was marked by notable milestones and achievements. After graduating from high school in Oberlin, Louisiana in 1963, he went on to serve his country with distinction for 22 years in the United States Air Force, retiring in 1985. His commitment to his country was unwavering. Following his military service, Wilfred continued to fuel his passion for aviation by working as a simulator flight instructor for the C-130 Hercules aircraft at Dyess Air Force Base until his retirement in 2004.  

Wilfred met the love of his life Sandra Hamilton, and they were married on August 7, 1971 in East Mountain in Upshur County, Texas.  Education played a significant role in Wilfred's life, and he pursued further learning by obtaining his associate's degree at Cisco Junior College in Abilene in 1997. His dedication to professional growth and knowledge was truly commendable. Wilfred was known for his diverse interests and hobbies. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was reading a good book, caring for his beloved cats, or showcasing his culinary skills through cooking. His ability to find happiness in the little things inspired those around him.

Wilfred leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He is survived by his dear wife, Sandra Lester of Belton; two sons, Jay Lester and wife, Lisa, of Abilene, Josh Lester of Houston; one sister, Gene Majors and husband, Al, of Fort Worth; five grandchildren, Michael Lester and wife, Xel, of Del Rio, Brian Lester of Abilene, Jackson Lester of College Station, Cather Lester of New Braunfels and Elliot Lester of New Braunfels.  Also surviving are brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Patricia Campbell of Coleman, Mike and Kim Hamilton of Huntsville, Eddy Giddes of Georgia and many nieces and nephews.  In his passing, Wilfred rejoins his parents Winnie and Anna Mae Veillon Lester as well as nine brothers and sisters who have gone before him.

A graveside service to honor and remember Wilfred's life will be held 10:00 a.m. June 12, 2024, at the Coleman City Cemetery Pavilion in Coleman.  Burial follow in the Coleman City Cemetery.

Wilfred Lester will be fondly remembered for his kindness, dedication, and love for those around him.
