Wayne VanPelt, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas. He was born on August 10, 1954, in Coleman, Texas, and throughout his 71 years, Wayne touched countless lives through his kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for family and friends.

Raised in Coleman, Wayne attended and graduated from Coleman High School in 1973, forging early friendships that would last a lifetime and laying the groundwork for a life defined by hard work, dedication, and care for others. From the young age of fourteen, Wayne began working in the oil fields, plugging oil wells—a career he pursued with determination and diligence. He worked many years for Ohio Natural Resources and worked until his death. Wayne’s commitment to his work created not only professional success but also a community of life-long friends who admired his integrity and reliable spirit. He truly loved his profession and the camaraderie it brought into his life.

Wayne was a man whose heart overflowed with kindness. He was known for never meeting a stranger, always eager to strike up a conversation, and possessed an innate ability to make others feel welcome and valued. Those close to Wayne knew him as someone who would offer help without hesitation. His giving nature and willingness to lend a hand in times of need earned him deep respect and lasting affection from all who crossed his path.

Beyond his work, Wayne found immense joy in visiting with friends, lending his support where needed, and indulging in his passion for collecting custom cars. These hobbies reflected his social spirit and appreciation for craftsmanship and beauty. His zest for life was evident in every gathering and interaction, making him the center of many memories cherished by those fortunate enough to know him.

Among Wayne’s proudest accomplishments was his marriage to Kimberly Ramsey in North Baltimore, Ohio. Their union was a testament to love and partnership, and together they spent the past thirty years building a life full of joy, mutual support, and treasured experiences. Wayne’s devotion to Kimberly and their family was steadfast, and the legacy of their marriage stands as a beacon of commitment and happiness.

Wayne’s legacy endures through his loved ones. He is survived by his devoted wife, Kimberly Vanpelt; his daughter, Ladonna Bolton; his sons, Corey Broeker and wife Terry and Dustin Ramsey. Wayne’s memory will be lovingly carried forward by his grandchildren: Shi Yates, Coupe Bolton, Josie Bolton, Missy Broeker, Alex Broeker, Daniel Cody, Alesha Cody, William Ercanbrock, Tyson, and his great-grandchildren: Emma, Jackson, Hayde, Hylan, Talon, Triton, Taisley, Lillian, Madeline, Roman, Violet, Kinsley Cadence, and Lexa.

He is also remembered by his sisters, Mary Hamon, Peggy Dempsey and husband Johnny, and Johnnie Dillard; his brothers, Frank VanPelt and Eddie VanPelt and wife Melissa, and a wide circle of extended family and friends whose lives he brightened. Wayne was preceded in death by his dearly loved parents, C.R. VanPelt and Dora Cardinas VanPelt, and sister-in-law, Kim VanPelt.

Wayne VanPelt's presence filled every room with warmth and laughter, and his spirit of generosity left a mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him. His life was a testament to love, resilience, and the enduring bonds of family and friendship. Though he will be profoundly missed, his memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who loved him.

A memorial service celebrating his remarkable life will be held at 5:30pm Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.
