Wade Turner, a beloved member of the Coleman community, was born on September 15, 1953, in Coleman, Texas. He met his Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 28, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of service, and unwavering dedication.
Wade had a life-long career in law enforcement that spanned over five decades. He spent many years at the Coleman County Sheriff's Department as deputy and over 28 years as Coleman County Sheriff. His dedication to his community and his passion for his career to protect and serve will be long remembered. He served on many boards of the West Central Texas Council of Governments, chairing the Law Enforcement Training and Criminal Justice Planning Advisory Committees. Additionally, he was an instructor for the West Central Texas Regional Law Enforcement Academy. His professional knowledge of criminal justice was far reaching across Texas as he trained law enforcement cadets at multiple academy locations, spanning several decades.
In addition to his extensive career, Wade was known for his gentle and kind nature and was always willing to lend a helping hand to friends and family. His dedication extended beyond law enforcement; he was a devoted member of Trinity Methodist Church, where he served as Trustee. Wade was also actively involved in the Coleman Masonic Lodge #496, past member of the Coleman Rodeo Association, and had served many years as a member of the Coleman Volunteer Fire Department.
Wade graduated from Coleman High School in 1972, proudly living in the community he loved. In 1972, he married Linda Jones, and together they celebrated 53 years of marriage filled with love and companionship. Wade is survived by his loving wife, Linda Turner, his sister Connie Turner of Coleman, one brother-in-law, Lonnie Jones of White Chapel, one daughter, Ami Polston and her husband Lonnie of Abilene; and one son, Joe Turner and his wife Candice of Monroe, Michigan. His grandchildren, Brittany Calloway, Brandon Calloway and fiancé Sarah, Jakeob Polston and fiancé Hannah, Trennen Turner, and Cade Turner, as well as his two great-grandchildren, Hudson Polston and Aiden Wade Calloway, brought him immense joy and pride.
Wade is joined in heaven by his parents, Robert Luke "R.L." Turner and Lyvern "Polly" Cook Turner.
The family will host a visitation from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm Friday, October 3, 2025, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 W. Pecan Street in Coleman. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 pm in the Voss Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home.
Wade Turner leaves behind a rich legacy of service, family devotion, and community spirit that will continue to influence and inspire those who knew him. His memory will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him.
