Virgil Wayne Wilson, born on July 21, 1959, in Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on June 8, 2026, at Hendrick Medical Center in Brownwood, Texas. He was a respected and dependable individual who lived a life marked by hard work and dedication to his family and community.
Virgil grew up in the town of Novice, where he attended school and graduated from Novice High School. He built a career as a skilled tractor mechanic with John Deere, where he was known for his remarkable ability to repair nearly any type of engine. Beyond his professional life, Virgil had a passion for the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, motorcycle riding, camping, and embracing all activities that allowed him to connect with nature.
In 2003, Virgil married Rosa Alonzo in Coleman, Texas. He is survived by his loving wife Rosa Wilson and his mother, Nena Wilson. He also leaves behind four children and several grandchildren who will carry forward his legacy. Virgil’s siblings—Anita Wilson, Letitia Wilson, Frances Coulombe, and Emma McKinney—also survive him, providing strength and support to the family during this time.
Virgil was preceded in death by his father, Jerald Wilson.
A visitation will be held on June 19, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Stevens Funeral Home located at 400 W Pecan Street, Coleman, Texas 76834. The graveside service will take place the following day, June 20, at 10:00 AM at Rough Creek Cemetery Pavilion, near Novice in Coleman County.
Virgil Wilson’s enduring commitment to his work, his family, and his community will be remembered with great admiration and respect. His presence will be deeply missed by those who knew him.
