Tony Joe Beal died on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, peacefully at his home in Valera. He was born January 3, 1955, to Bobby Joe and Frances Jones Beal (Richardson) and was the first baby born at the Coleman hospital for that year.
Tony grew up in Santa Anna, where he attended school and graduated high school. His childhood was brimming with activity and camaraderie as he played football and basketball, sharing the fields with friends and his three brothers. He played Little League baseball and was an integral part of the Rockwood baseball team. His passion extended beyond sports; he cultivated a deep affection for horses, ranch work, and roping, spending many joyful years with his favorite horse, Booger Red.
A gifted carpenter, Tony honed his skills under the guidance of his uncles, the Jones Brothers, contributing to the construction of several homes in Coleman County. His precision and meticulous attention to detail were hallmarks of his craft and something he greatly enjoyed.
Tony’s career was marked by dedication as he embarked on a journey with the Santa Fe Railroad, where he worked as an engineer until his retirement. He was proud to be a part of the Santa Fe Railroad and shared this passion with his son-in-law, Shane Bird.
Tony leaves behind a loving family that grieves his loss. He is survived by his children: Clayton Beal, Alicia Siller, Tessa Bird and her husband Shane, Dustin Beal, and stepson Seth Beal. He was a grandfather to 12 grandchildren: Tristan Gonzales, Brandon Beal, Addison Beal, Hagen Beal, Miranda Siller, Jacob Siller, Andrew Siller, Chase Bird, Taylor Bird, Brooklyn Bird, Ryder Bird, Devon Beal, as well as eight great-grandchildren: Chloe Gonzales, Levi Gonzales, Emerson Gonzales, Sofia Vasquez, Jocelyn Vasquez, Benjamin Nelson, Jose Ibarra III, and Emberly Echols. He is also remembered fondly by his siblings Rick Beal and Steve Beal and his wife, Sarah, along with several nieces and nephews.
Tony was preceded in death by his brother Davy Beal, his mother Frances Richardson, stepfather Cecil Richardson, and his father Bobby Beal.
Family members recall treasured moments spent camping at Red Bank in Coleman County, collecting laughter and stories under the moonlit sky illuminated by the glow of lightning bugs. These precious moments encapsulate the spirit of a man who loved the beauty of nature.
