Thad W. Sansing, a beloved father, grandfather, and brother, was born on January 15, 1934, in Lubbock, Texas. He passed away peacefully on June 11, 2025, at Holiday Hill Nursing Home in Coleman, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and craftsmanship.
Thad grew up in Cooper, Texas and graduated from Cooper High School in 1952. Immediately after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he proudly served his country. Following his honorable discharge, he began a long and fulfilling career with the United States Department of Agriculture, demonstrating many years of hard work and dedication before retiring in 1990.
Thad's passion extended beyond his professional life; he had a remarkable talent for working with his hands. He cherished time spent woodworking and maintaining his yard. His love for family was evident, as he always prioritized moments shared with loved ones, often accompanied by his fondness for gospel music. One of his greatest joys was traveling across the United States with his beloved wife, Shirley. Together, they visited every state except Alaska, creating countless memories and friendships along the way. They celebrated sixty-two wonderful years of marriage before Shirley's passing in 2022.
Thad is survived by his daughter, Terri Cash and husband Rex of Post; his son, Randy Sansing and wife Laurie of Tuscola. He deeply loved and adored his grandchildren: Wilson Cash and wife Michelle, Colt Sansing and wife Ashley, Madison Presnell and husband Garrett, and Gunner Sansing and wife Skyler. He also cherished his great-grandchildren, Hudson Cash, Connor Cash, Whitley Sansing, and two more on the way. Thad is also remembered fondly by his sister, Maggie Harris of Kilgore.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Thad Mosley Sansing and Edith Richardson Sansing, his treasured wife, Shirley Sansing, and his siblings, Coy Sansing, Helen Fisher, and Eugene Sansing.
The family will host a visitation at 1:00 pm followed by a funeral service at 2:00 pm Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman. A private interment will be in the Coleman City Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home in Coleman.
