Tammy Kay Bowen

Tammy Kay Bowen, a cherished member of the community, sadly passed away on May 22, 2024, in Abilene, Texas. She was born on February 27, 1959, in Coleman, Texas to Bobby Rabon and Carolyn Coker Rabon. 
 
Tammy had a remarkable career alongside her husband Gary. They were the dedicated owners and operators of Heartland Skateway and Heartland Childcare for forty-two years. 
 
Her educational journey began at Novice High School, where she graduated in 1977. Subsequently, Tammy pursued higher education at Texas Tech University.
 
Tammy's warm and caring personality endeared her to all who knew her. Her infectious laughter and radiant smile could brighten even the darkest days. Known as the life of the party, Tammy had a kind word and a smile for everyone she met. Her love for her family, friends, and the families and children she cared for was unmatched, always ready to support those in need.
 
In her leisure time, Tammy found joy in riding horses during her younger years. Additionally, Tammy held the prestigious title of Coleman Rodeo Queen in 1977.
 
Among her proudest accomplishments was marrying Gary Bowen on September 22, 1980, in Burkett, a union that blossomed into forty-two beautiful years. Followed by the birth of her two sons, the true joys of her life, Rabon and Blanton.
 
Tammy is preceded in death by her parents, Bobby Rabon and Carolyn Coker Rabon.
 
She is survived by her devoted husband, Gary Bowen of Early; her two sons, Rabon Bowen and wife Liz of Georgetown and Blanton Bowen and girlfriend Mykala of Round Rock; her brother Todd Rabon and wife Kim of Fredericksburg; cherished nieces and nephews Dalton Rabon, Dillon Rabon, Brooke Peddle and husband Tyler, Christoper Bowen, and Zacheri Espinoza; along with her sister-in-law Jamie Espinoza; and brother-in-law Greg Bowen and wife Janice.
 
Family and friends are invited to a visitation at 1:00 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Zacheri Espinoza officiating.  Interment will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery.  Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman. 
 
Pallbearers will be Dalton Rabon, Dillon Rabon, Christoper Bowen, Taylor Espinoza, Edward Brooks, and Phillip Brookey.
 
The family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions in memory of Tammy be made to the Alzheimer's Association at 
www.alz.org or to a charity of the donor's choice. 
 
Tammy will forever be remembered for her kindness, love for life, and unwavering dedication to those around her. May she rest in peace.
