Tamako "Tommie" Okumura Sprinkles

Tamako “Tommie” Sprinkles, 89, of Novice, died Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at the Allen Center at Holiday Hill Nursing Home. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman, with Rev. James Posey officiating. Burial will be in the Rough Creek Cemetery in Novice. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

She was born Tamako Okumura on December 16, 1928 in Sapparo, Japan to Eijiro Okumura and Sue Hara Okumura. She grew up in Sapparo and graduated from school there. “Tommie” met Sam Eugene “Gene” Sprinkles while he was stationed in Japan. They later married on September 25, 1957 in Sapparo and made their home in Novice. “Tommie” loved painting. She painted western scenes and cowboys using oil paints and water colors. She also China painted, made quilts and crocheted. She even made clothing for her family.

Survivors include her son, Sam Eugene Sprinkles, Jr. of Novice; her daughter, Emily Sue Wright and husband, Alan, of Abilene; four grandchildren, Melanie Watkins and husband, David, of North Richland Hills, Michelle Koelsche and husband, Derick, of Abilene, David Wilson and wife, Ashley, of Fort Worth, Kimberly Wilson of Abilene and eight great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene, on March 17, 2005, three brothers and two sisters.

There will be a visitation at the funeral home from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 19, 2018.
