Steven Lewis Stuart, age 56, of Coleman, died Saturday, June 10, 2023, in Comanche County.
The family will host a visitation from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, June 17, 2023, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel. Family and friends are invited to a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 18, 2023, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dick Schultz, pastor at Emmanuel Baptist Church, officiating. The last ride will process to the Coleman City Cemetery where Seth Moore, pastor at Hords Creek Cowboy Church, will conduct the committal service. Interment will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.
Stevens was born February 12, 1967, in Georgia to Willis Leroy Stuart and Anna Ruth Jennings Stuart. He married Elizabeth Ring- Stratton on April 23, 1993, in Coleman. Steven worked many years in the oilfield, including overseas in Turkey, and then worked in landscaping.
Steven and Elizabeth were members of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Coleman and Hords Creek Cowboy Church. He was a member of the Dry Bones Motorcycle Ministry where he rode with his friends spreading the word of God and was also the Sergeant at Arms. Steven also preached at Brazos Street Mission Church. Steven loved helping others and it was evident through his ministry and volunteering for the Valera Fire Department. He loved spending time with his family, riding his motorcycle, and was a proud member of the National Rifle Association. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather (Papa), and great-grandfather (Great-Papa). He will be greatly missed by many.
Preceding Steven in death are his parents, Willis Leroy Stuart and Anna Ruth Jennings Stuart; one sister, Victoria Dawn Stuart; and his children, Venito (Venny) Cervantes, Michael, (Lil’ Mike) Henderson; one grandchild, Julie Potaska; and one great-grandchild, Chance Campbell.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Stuart; his children, Miryanna Stuart, Christie and Bobby Junge, Sharlie Sellers-Stuart, Anthony Parks-Stuart, Scott Stuart and Vanessa Thorton, Landen Benson-Stuart and Katlynn Botaw, Kylie Benson Stuart and Dakota Holliday, Brandy and Chris Loyd, Amanda and Kelly Watson, Luisa and Joe Harrell, Michael (Mikey) and Amanda Hubach, and Vera and John Campbell; 42 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; expecting three great-grandchildren in 2023; and expecting one great-grandchild in 2024; two brothers, Glen Stuart and wife Barbara and Richard Stuart and wife Dana; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
