Severn Mayo, a dedicated individual who led a fulfilling life, passed away peacefully at his residence in Voss, Texas on Wednesday, April 3, 2024. He was born on October 14, 1944, in Sherman, Texas. Severn ventured into the oil fields early in his career and eventually became a sales representative for safety equipment at Axelson. His commitment to his work took him on adventures around the globe, including a seven-year stay in London, England. Severn retired at the age of fifty-four after years of hard work.
 
Severn graduated from Coleman High School in 1963. Beyond his professional achievements, Severn was a proud member of the Coleman Masonic Lodge #496, where he recently received his 50-year certificate. He also actively participated in the Leaday Baptist Church community and was a volunteer for the South Coleman County Fire Department and Crimestoppers. 
 
Severn's true joy stemmed from his love for family and farm life. He treasured the moments spent with his children and grandchildren, creating lasting memories filled with love and laughter.
 
Severn is preceded in death by his parents, Morris and Ottie Mayo; his beloved wife, Patsy Mayo; and one grandson, Jordan Berglan. He leaves behind a legacy cherished by many. Surviving him are his two sons, Mark Mayo and wife Tessie and Duane Mayo and Jennifer Evans; two stepchildren, Debra Kirk and husband Jason of Kilgore and Jimmy Berglan of Lubbock.
 
His presence will be deeply missed but forever remembered by his adored grandchildren: Caleb Mayo, Natalie Mayo, Madison Clark, Paul Kirk, Christopher Kirk, Dana Kirk and wife Candi Meadows, Kendal Bowen and husband Jake, as well as Bailey Berglan. Additionally, Severn is survived by five great-grandchildren: Ottie Jo Clark, Cory Kirk, Lincoln Kirk, Lydia Bowen, and Cecily Bowen. He is also survived by his brothers J.D. Mayo and wife Margie of Coleman and Michael and wife Sharon of Coleman.
 
 
The family will host a visitation at 9:00 a.m. followed by a funeral service celebrating his life at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Allen, a pastor at Coggin Avenue Baptist Church in Brownwood, officiating.  Interment will follow in the Glen Cove Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman. 

The family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be made to the South Coleman Volunteer Fire Department, 5725 FM 2131, Coleman, Texas 76834.
