She was born Ella Ruth Cox on February 9, 1928, near Stacy, Texas to Joseph Lester Cox and Stella Idol Cox.  She graduated from the University of Texas with an accounting degree before marrying Wiley Donald “Don” Newton on April 18, 1953, in Coleman.  Ruth worked as the office manager and accountant for Bryant Industries into her eighties.  She moved to Rockwall to be closer to family and friends.

She was a lover of animals, especially her beloved dogs.  Laughter followed her wherever she went.  Witty and fun-loving Ruth made friends easily.  She loved to read, look at family pictures whether old or new, travel, swim, and float down the Colorado River.  Time spent with family was a priority in her life.  Being together and sharing at Christmas and Thanksgiving were her favorite times.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol Embrey; her grandson, Aaron Newton, his wife Jennifer; two great-grandchildren, Megan Newton, and Barry Newton; daughter-in-law, Sharon Sizemore;   A few dear nieces, Dana Travis and her husband, Mark, and their three children, Shelly Kolle, and her husband, Steve, and their four children, Mary Kay Coel, her husband, Ed along with their children, and a nephew, John Collins, and his wife, Pat.  She had many special great-great nieces and nephews and extended friends and family.

Memorials are suggested in memory of Ruth to the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) at or to a charity of your choice.
