Rosa Lou Bates passed away peacefully on September 21, 2026, at the age of 89 surrounded by her children into the loving arms of her Jesus Christ.

Rosa Lou, affectionately known as NoNo to her loved ones, was born in Amarillo, Texas on June 9, 1937, to Jack and Ruth Banta. She married Alton Bates on March 4, 1955, in Coleman, Texas. They lived most of their married life in West Texas working and traveling together she would follow behind him on the way to their next job as she did most of the time looking for a beauty shop on the way.

Rosa Lou was proceeded in death by her loving husband, Alton Bates of 63 years, granddaughter, Mackenzie Uitly, and parents Jack and Ruth Banta.

Rosa Lou is survived by her children, Kim Moss and husband, Jessie Moss and her son Ronnie Bates and his wife, Pam Bates; grandchildren Briana Lee, and her husband, Jonathan and Trisha Underwood, Tonya Forhand, and several great grandchildren as well.

The family will host a visitation from 10:00 am to 10:45 am Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman. A graveside funeral service will follow at 11:00 am at the Santa Anna Cemetery Pavilion with Rev. Aaron Mitchell, pastor at Concho Baptist Church, officiating. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home.

The family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
