Coleman, Texas bids farewell to a beloved member of its community, Osie Lee Mitchell, who passed away peacefully at Holiday Hill Nursing Home with his family by his side. Osie was born on March 6, 1932, in Cross Roads, Coleman County, Texas. Throughout his life, Osie dedicated himself to serving others and found immense joy in his role as the maintenance supervisor for Coleman Independent School District for over 22 years.
A man of integrity and dedication, Osie's commitment to his work was unparalleled. He took immense pride in maintaining the school facilities and cherished the time he spent among the students. His hard work and passion left a lasting impact on all those he interacted with within the school community.
Outside of work, Osie found solace in nature. He enjoyed spending his days hunting, fishing, and tending to his garden. These simple pleasures brought him great happiness and allowed him moments of peace amidst a busy life.
Osie is survived by his two daughters, Frankie Darlene Swift of Livingston and Jerri Lou Jennings and husband Galan of Novice and his “other daughter” Emma Head of Boerne. His love for them knew no bounds. Additionally, he leaves behind a legacy through his six grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren who brought light into his life. In this time of loss, may they find comfort in the memories shared with their dear grandfather; he is also survived by his only remaining brother, Douglas Mitchell of Novice.
In remembrance of Osie Lee Mitchell's life, we also honor the memory of those who preceded him in death: his parents, Archie B. Mitchell and Lula Mae Keeney Mitchell; his loving wife Virginia Lee Mitchell; and five brothers, A. B., Lonnie Earl, Jimmy, Max and Delbert.
Osie's presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be remembered for his kindness, dedication to family, and unwavering work ethic. As we mourn his passing, let us also celebrate the life he lived with such grace and dignity. May Osie Lee Mitchell rest in peace knowing that he was loved and cherished by many.
