Ofilia Martinez DeLeon

Ofilia Martinez DeLeon, 87, of Santa Anna, died Friday, January 20, 2017 at her residence surrounded by family. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 23, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 303 East College Avenue, Coleman. Interment will be in the Santa Anna Cemetery in Santa Anna. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home, Coleman.

She was born Ofilia Dela Rosa Martinez on February 2, 1929 in Santa Anna to Ascencion Martinez and Delores Dela Rosa Martinez. Ofilia is a life-long resident of Santa Anna and attended school there. On May 22, 1952, she married Raymond F. DeLeon in Coleman. She worked at the Coleman Sewing Factory for seven years. She also babysat for more than 30 years, watching not only family, but also watching children in the neighborhood. Ofilia was a member of the Guadalupe Society, Cursillista and sang in the Spanish Choir of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where she was a lifetime member.

Survivors include her husband, Raymond F. DeLeon of Santa Anna; two sons, Arthur DeLeon and wife, Susie, of Coleman, Albert DeLeon and wife, Maria, of Abilene; one daughter, Dalia DeLeon and companion, Camillo Alonzo, of Santa Anna; one brother, Adolpho Martinez of Brownwood; one sister, Eloisa Jaramillo and husband, Lucio, of Denver, Colorado; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, including twins Manuelito and Antonio Martinez, Eutimo Martinez and Gilberto Martinez.

A Rosary service will be 5:30 p.m. Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman. Visitation with the family start at 6:30 p.m. Sunday.
