Marilyn Gay Dobbins, a devoted wife, mother, and cherished member of her family and community, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Songbird Lodge in Brownwood, Texas. Born Marilyn Gregory on June 23, 1965, in Houston, Texas, she spent her early years growing up in the Houston area where she attended school and developed the loving and giving personality that was so characteristic of her.
Throughout her younger years, Marilyn worked at various part-time jobs, including the Dairy Mart and Mr. Burger. However, her primary focus and greatest devotion throughout her life was to the well-being and happiness of her family. Marilyn was a wonderful wife and homemaker, deeply committed to creating a warm and nurturing home.
In 1986, Marilyn married Robert Lynn Dobbins in Coleman, Texas. Their enduring partnership was a source of joy and strength, and they recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary—a testament to their lasting love and commitment.
Marilyn’s joys extended beyond her marriage; she found immense happiness spending time with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Robert Dobbins, of Coleman; her beloved children Bambi Rambo of Coleman, Dustin Dobbins of Houston, David Rosalez and wife Kristal of Amarillo, Rachel Allgood and husband Ronald of Brownwood, and Terry Dobbins of Killeen. Marilyn also adored her eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, who brought light and laughter to her life.
Her family circle also includes her mother, Carolyn Williams of Coleman, as well as her two sisters, Paula Gilliam and her husband Randy of Brownwood, and Denise Diaz and her husband Troy of Coleman. Marilyn’s legacy is further carried on by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who remember her love and kindness.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her father, William Paul Gregory, and her son, John Paul Dobbins. Their memories continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A woman of many passions, Marilyn loved music of all genres, and she enjoyed the peace and adventure of camping trips with her family. These hobbies reflected her spirited and loving nature, always finding joy in shared moments and simple pleasures.
The graveside service to honor Marilyn Gay Dobbins will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 10, 2026, at the Coleman City Cemetery Pavilion with Mr. Leif Scott officiating. There will be no formal visitation. Marilyn will lie in state at Stevens Funeral Home where all are welcome to pay their respects. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.
Marilyn’s passing is mourned by those who loved her dearly and comforted by the meaningful life she lived—a life marked by a profound dedication to family, a generous spirit, and a loving heart. Her enduring influence will remain a guiding light for her family and friends, reminding all of the warmth, strength, and love she so freely gave.
