Linda Sue Hodges, née Woodard, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at Holiday Hill Nursing Home in Coleman, Texas. She was born on May 14, 1948, in Cortez, Colorado, and throughout her 78 years, she touched the lives of many with her warmth and kindness.

Linda spent her early years growing up in Abilene, where she attended school and laid the foundation for a life marked by dedication to family and hard work. Throughout her career, Linda worked many years as a housekeeping supervisor for a cleaning service. Her professionalism and caring nature won her the respect and friendship of colleagues, resulting in many life-long friendships formed during those years of service.

Throughout her journey, Linda called several places home. She lived in Louisiana and Arkansas before settling in Coleman, Texas, in 2020, a move that allowed her to be closer to her family in her later years. In each community she joined, Linda brought with her a spirit of friendliness and inclusiveness, making connections that enriched not only her life but also the lives of others.

Linda is survived by her loving daughter-in-law, Angela Low of Coleman, who remained a supportive presence in her life. Linda is also survived by her daughters, Jewel Beltz of Clyde, Cristy Davis of Throckmorton, and Tommy Hicks of Hawley. She is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, DeWitt Hodges, her son, Marolen Riley, her father, Melvin Dean Woodard, and her mother, Christine Glassup Woodard. Linda’s memory will be cherished by all those who knew her and were fortunate to be touched by her kindness.

At Linda’s request, she will be cremated and laid to rest next to her husband. Arrangements are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.

Linda Sue Hodges will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, family member, and friend—a woman whose joyful spirit and acts of kindness created lasting bonds wherever she went. Her legacy of love remains, lighting the way for those she leaves behind.
