Leona Mae Shields Frazee

November 21, 1934 — March 2, 2017

Leona Mae Shields Frazee Fun, humor and a spark for life are just some of the characteristics that describe our Mom and Sweet Grannie. She was the family nurse, caretaker and peace maker. She was full of love and conversation for everyone she met. We will miss this special one who loved deeply. Leona Mae Shields Frazee, 82, of Burns Flat, Oklahoma, passed from this life Thursday, March 2, 2017, at INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Leona Mae was born on November 21, 1934 in Santa Anna to Fred and Maude French Shields. She married Mark Frazee in September, 1967. They traveled the country working construction until they settled in Burns Flat, Oklahoma in 1984. Leona is survived by her husband of 49 years, Mark Frazee of Burns Flat, Oklahoma; her daughter Becky Pruitt and husband Ronnie of Henderson; her son-in-law David Yancy of Keene; her step-daughter Kim Hinson of Sullivan, Missouri; her sister, Evelyn Tylene Wright of Mansfield; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Leona was preceded in death by her son Joe Wayne Bateman; and her daughter Melissa Kay Yancy; her grandson Brady Cameron Pruitt; five brothers, Robert Shields, Chester Ray Shields, Myrl Gene Shields, Leo Shields, Hollis Shields; and two sisters, Edith Gilbert and Lonell Thate. You are invited to celebrate the life of Leona on Sunday, March 5, at 11:00 a.m. at the Santa Anna Cemetery Pavilion in Santa Anna. Visitation with the family at the pavilion will be one hour prior to the services. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home, Coleman, Texas. Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14 Please leave condolences for the family at www.livingmemorials.com
