Johnny was later employed by Phillips Petroleum Company in Sweeny, where he dedicated over three decades of his life serving as an operator in various divisions of the company. Johnny was a member of both the Phillips Fire Department and the Old Ocean Volunteer Fire department where he served as Fire Chief for a period of time.
