John Jefferson Johnson, Jr

John Jefferson Johnson, Jr, 76, of Novice died April 28, 2017 at his residence. Graveside service with Military Honors will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 11, 2017 at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene, 7457 West Lake Road, Abilene. Interment will follow, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home, Coleman.

John Jefferson Johnson, Jr. was born August 28, 1940 in Lampasas, Texas to John Jefferson Johnson, Sr. and Mattie Ruth Biddy Johnson. He grew up in Lampasas and Coleman and attended school in Lampasas. He served in the United States Army and the United States Air Force. Mr. Johnson later enlisted in the Army National Guard of Texas, retiring after 30 years of combined service. Mr. Johnson worked for the City of Coleman and the City of Rising Star and was an officer with the Rising Star Police Department. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War.

Survivors include one son, John J. Jefferson, III; one daughter, Christlyn Johnson; three sisters, Annie Jo Perry, Betty Hickman, Hazel Rowlette; grandchildren, Christopher Shane Bartholomew Johnson, Priscilla Elain Bartholomew Johnson, Ethan Cord Brannon, Destiny Reneé Brannon and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Marty Palmore and two brothers, Andrew Jackson Johnson and Jerry Dean Johnson.
