He was born Jerald Clerance Wilson on March 6, 1935, in Novice to Jerry Virgil Wilson and Leona Mae Ward Wilson. He grew up in Novice and graduated from Novice High School in 1953. Jerald married his high school sweetheart, Nena Sue Barnett on July 8, 1956, at the Novice United Methodist Church by Rev. Marvin James. Jerald worked for Claytonville Gas Plant and Coastal States in Sweetwater, J.L. Davis West Texas Gas in Midland, and Custom Agriculture in Coleman. He was actively engaged in farming and ranching upon his death. They say if you love something and make a profession of it you are fortunate. That is what he found in farming and ranching which he did for over 42 years. Being civic minded, Jerald served on the Coleman County Water Board, Farm Service Agency Board, Novice School Board and was a member of the Novice Volunteer Fire Dept. He was a life-long resident of Coleman County and a member of the Novice United Methodist Church.

Jerald loved Jesus evidenced by the devotion he showed to his wife and family. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Jerald was proud of them all and supported their endeavors with encouragement and wise counsel. Extended family gatherings with his siblings, nieces, and nephews were cherished.

He was affectionately known as “Uncle Jerald” to many in his community, conveying his willingness to put others first. He was a mentor and friend to the men sitting around the table at the Novice Store drinking coffee. He was happy, kind, generous, patient and you knew he cared by his sincere smile. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Jerald is preceded in death by his parents, Jerry Virgil Wilson and Leona Mae Wilson.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Nena Wilson of Novice; his children, Anita Wilson of Novice, Virgil Wilson and wife Rosa of Coleman, Letitia Wilson of Novice, Frances Coulombe and husband Dennis of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Emma McKinney and husband Matt of Goldsboro; his grandchildren, Tanner Corder, Wesley Steffey, David Wilson, Kim Wilson, Amos Coulombe, Naomi Coulombe, Alice Wilke, Kevin McKinney, and Jessica Ohlemacher; nine great-grandchildren; his sisters, Wanda Wilson Motley and husband Paul of Novice, Martha Wilson of Abilene, and Mary Wilson of Silver Valley, and his brother, Mac Wilson and wife Jerri Ann Saunders Wilson of Silver Valley.
