Graham Cathey

May 7, 1949 — August 5, 2025

Coleman

Graham Cathey, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene, Texas. He was born on May 7, 1949, in Coleman, Texas, and grew up in Fisk, where he developed a lifelong love for the land he cherished. Graham attended school in Levelland and Coleman, where he laid the foundation for a life marked by hard work and commitment.

Graham dedicated many years of his career as a mechanic in the oil field industry, where his skills and expertise earned him the respect of his peers. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1968 to 1972, an experience that deepened his character and sense of duty.

Throughout his life, Graham was known for his loving and giving personality. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to a friend or neighbor in need. He found immense joy in ranching and farming, passions that brought him closer to his roots and the natural world.

Graham’s proudest accomplishment was his marriage to Patricia Ann Blake on October 31, 1980, in May, Texas. Their union flourished over the span of forty-five wonderful years, filled with laughter, love, and shared dreams. He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Cathey of Coleman; two daughters, Becky Connally and husband Kelly of Anson, and Angela James of Lake Brownwood. Graham deeply loved and adored his seven grandchildren: Coy Mize, Tyler Morgan, Hunter Connally, Mady Connally, Landree Connally, Erin Lewis, and Sophie Durbine, all of whom were a source of light and joy in his life.

Graham will also be remembered by his three sisters: Karen Parker of Coleman, Linda Wheeler and husband Ray of May, and Laura Dockery and husband Leslie of Sundown, who supported him through life's ups and downs along with many nieces and nephews who he adored.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James Carlin Cathey and Willie Mavis Graham; one brother, Terry Dan Cathey; and one sister, Vicky Miller.

Graham Cathey's legacy of kindness, dedication to family, and love for the land will be cherished by all who knew him.
