Gloria Nell Beets, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Hendrick Medical Center North in Abilene, Texas, with her family by her side. Born on September 1, 1944, in Snyder, Texas, Gloria’s life was one marked by love, devotion, and a deep commitment to the family she cherished above all else.
Growing up in Snyder and Odessa, Gloria attended school in these close-knit Texas communities and developed the warm, outgoing personality for which she would be remembered throughout her life. Her early years shaped her into a person devoted to loved ones, planting the seeds of a legacy that would blossom within her growing family for generations.
On May 12, 1962, Gloria married Mike Beets in Juarez, Mexico. Their journey together was one of unwavering love, support, and companionship—a union that celebrated 64 wonderful years. Their love and partnership provided a foundation of stability and joy, becoming a beacon for their children and grandchildren. Together, Gloria and Mike are devoted members of the High Mesa Cowboy Church in Brownwood.
Gloria was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She relished her role as the heart of her family, nurturing those around her through countless acts of kindness both large and small. Her joy was rooted in providing for her loved ones, and she found happiness participating in every aspect of their lives, championing their endeavors and rejoicing in their achievements.
Those blessed to have known Gloria will remember her warm, loving nature and her ability to bring people together. Her outgoing spirit lit up every room and event, ensuring each family gathering was filled with laughter, comfort, and unity. She served as the steady anchor through life’s storms and the source of so much light and joy for her family.
Gloria’s memory will be lovingly carried forward by her devoted husband, Mike Beets; her sons, Michael Beets and wife Laura and Steven Beets and wife Shannon; her daughter, Kerri Barnett and husband Roland; and a legacy of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were her pride and joy: Jacob Beets, Garret Beets, Michael Beets, Jr., Lorili Zavala, Dawn Green, Haley Morris, Braydon Barnett, Justin Willis, Kelsi Howell, Kylee King, Keaton Beets, Aspen Green, Arya Green, Kyler Beets, Rowan Morris, Morgan Howell, Remy Howell, Micah King, and Karter King. She is also survived by her sister, Patsy Edmiston, and brothers, David Wishert and Eddie Milton.
Gloria was preceded in death by her father, Ervil Milton, and her mother, Medie Griffin Milton; her son, Randy Beets; grandson, Collin Barnett; and brothers, Lloyd Wishert and Ray Wishert.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W Pecan St, Coleman, Texas. A funeral service celebrating her remarkable life will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at High Mesa Cowboy Church, 1100 High Mesa Drive, Brownwood, Texas. Interment will follow in the Rough Creek Cemetery in Novice, Texas. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home in Coleman.
Gloria Nell Beets’s life was a testament to the enduring power of love, kindness, and family. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to share in her remarkable journey.
