Geneva Elizabeth Morton, a cherished member of the Coleman community and a devoted caregiver, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at Oak Ridge Manor in Brownwood, Texas. Born in Coleman, Texas, on January 31, 1942, Geneva’s life was defined by her unwavering commitment to her family, friends, and her vocation in healthcare.

Geneva grew up in the close-knit town of Coleman, where she graduated from Coleman High School. Her early years there laid the foundation for a life dedicated to service and compassion. She pursued a career as a Certified Nurse Aide, dedicating many years to the well-being of others at Holiday Hill Nursing Home and Leisure Lodge. Geneva’s love for her work was evident in the care and attention she gave to her patients, often going beyond her duties to ensure their comfort and dignity.

Her devotion extended beyond her professional life into her personal world. Geneva was a woman who treasured her family deeply and placed their needs above all else. Known for her kind heart and generosity, she was always ready to extend a helping hand to friends in need. Her faith also played a significant role in her life; she was a devoted member of the United Pentecostal Church, finding strength and solace in her spiritual community.

Geneva is survived by her beloved children, James Snider, Mary Hollis, and William Benefill. She was a doting grandmother to her two grandchildren, Wendy and Haily Wolfe, who brought immeasurable joy to her later years. Geneva also leaves behind cherished friendships with Elmer, Elvera, and Steve Nickell, whose companionship meant so much to her.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Don Keeney and Ada Oneta Dawdy Keeney; her daughter, Ladonna Wolfe; and her siblings, James Odell Keeney, Leon Don Keeney, Sandra Steffey, and Mary Margaret Funderburg. Their memories remain a lasting part of Geneva’s story.

A graveside service to honor Geneva’s life will be held on Friday, April 24, 2026, beginning at 1:00 PM at the Coleman City Cemetery Pavilion located at 1600 East 9th Street in Coleman, Texas. This will be an opportunity for family, friends, and community members to gather in respectful remembrance of a woman who touched so many lives with her kindness and dedication. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.

Geneva Elizabeth Morton’s legacy is one of love, faith, and devoted care, leaving behind a profound impact on all who knew her. Her memory will continue to inspire those she loved and those she cared for throughout her lifetime.
