Geneva McCown Garrett

October 24, 1946 — April 22, 2024

Santa Anna

Geneva McCown Garrett, passed away peacefully at Hendrick Hospice Care in Abilene on Monday, April 22, 2024. Geneva's unwavering faith in her Lord and her embodiment of Christian values illuminated the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Born on October 24, 1946, in Port Lavaca, Texas, Geneva's journey was one filled with love, compassion, and dedication. She graduated from Calhoun High School in 1966 before embarking on a fulfilling life journey as a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. Her marriage to William Garrett on July 23, 1966, marked the beginning of a beautiful chapter that lasted a lifetime.

Geneva's warm and loving nature extended beyond her immediate family. Her involvement in various organizations such as the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution showcased her commitment to making a difference within her community. As a member of multiple esteemed societies and clubs, including the United Daughters of the Confederacy, Pecan Valley Genealogical Society, Gouldbusk Community Club, Epsilon Sigma Alpha, Delta Omicron Chapter, Red Hats Society, and First Baptist Church in Santa Anna, Geneva's impact resonated far and wide.

In her leisure time, Geneva found solace by the ocean and immersed herself in genealogy research. Her passion for quilting, sewing, and embroidery not only brought joy to her but also touched the hearts of those fortunate enough to receive one of her meticulously crafted aprons. Geneva's culinary skills were unparalleled as she delighted in canning, reading cookbooks, and earning the reputation of being the best deviled egg maker around.

Geneva is survived by her beloved husband William Garrett of Santa Anna; daughter Charlotte Cooper and husband Bill of Brownwood; grandchildren Cassie Kendrick and husband Roy of Goldsboro, Hayden Springer and wife Natalie of Santa Anna, Rylie Mae Philpot of The Colony, Jacob Springer and wife Anya of Poland; great-grandson Henry Lane Kendrick; brother Leonard "Dusty" McCown and wife Marge of Irving; niece Kristi Betts and husband Walter of Irving; sons-in-law Wayne Philpot and wife Wendy and Doug Tucker.

She is preceded in death by her parents Clarence Eugene "Jeep" McCown and Hazel Lee Turner McCown, along with her cherished daughter Cynthia Philpot.

Geneva's legacy will live on through the memories she created with her loved ones and the profound impact she made on all whose lives she touched. May she rest in eternal peace.
