Doris McIntosh Allen

Doris McIntosh Allen, age 98, of Coleman, died Tuesday, August 28, 2018, at her residence.  Memorial Service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 2, 2018, at the United Christian and Presbyterian Church, 1609 S. Commercial, Coleman, with Rev. Tracy Baker officiating.  Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Doris Adele McIntosh and her twin sister Dorothy were born on May 10, 1920, in Brownwood, Texas, to Clyde Alexander McIntosh and Bessie Ione Ray McIntosh.  She grew up in Brownwood where she attended Brownwood public schools and graduated with a Bachelor of Art in English from Howard Payne College (now University).  She married Clyde Dixon Allen on April 10, 1955, in Brownwood, at her home church, Coggin Avenue Baptist.  He preceded her in death on September 29, 2007.

Following her marriage, Doris moved to Coleman, where she has resided since that time.  She was a homemaker and an avid bridge player.  She played bridge twice a week for many years and played until April of this year.  She was an active member of the United Christian and Presbyterian Church in Coleman for over 60 years.

Survivors include her son, Clyde Jackson Allen of McLean, Virginia; one daughter, Dorothy Allen Kellogg of Alexandria, Virginia; two grandsons, Allen McIntosh Kellogg of Alexandria, Virginia and Stephen Jackson Kellogg of Chicago, Illino

She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Perry McIntosh, sister, Frances McIntosh and her twin sister, Dorothy McIntosh.

Immediately following the service, there will be a visitation with the family in the fellowship hall of the church.
