Donna Lou (Russell) Parks

Donna Parks, age 85, of Coleman, died Thursday, January 20, 2022, at Coleman County Medical Center.

The family will host a visitation from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, January 23, 2022, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman. Family and friends are invited to a graveside funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 24, 2022, at the Coleman City Cemetery Pavilion. Interment will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home in Coleman.

She was born Donna Lou Russell on April 19, 1936, in Childress, Texas to D.A. Russell and Minnie Mae Taylor Russell. Donna married Bennie Parks on September 5, 1952, in Levelland, Texas. With this union eight children were born. Donna and Bennie moved to Coleman in 1971 from Lubbock. Donna was a certified nurse aide at Holiday Hill for over 20 years. She loved and cared for all her patients.

Donna loved her family and friends. She enjoyed working and being outdoors. You could find her fishing, going four-wheeling, or playing with her goat, Sarah. Donna also loved watching a good western movie on the television. She always enjoyed spending time with her family. Donna leaves behind a legacy full of laughter and love. She will be missed.

Donna is preceded in death by her parents, D.A. and Minnie Russell; her husband, Bennie Parks; and five children, Larry Parks, Donald Parks, Bonnie Lanham, Bobby Parks, and Terry Parks.

She is survived by three children, Peggy Johnson and husband Deane of Coleman, Billy Parks of Coleman, and Rosie Watts and husband Charlie of Burkett; fifteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ruby Nailon of Oklahoma.

Pallbearers will be Charlie Watts, Aaron Parks, Chase Calhoon, Avery Hale, Preston Watts, and William Brannon.
