Diane (Monsey) Allen

Diane Allen, age 81, of Coleman, died Saturday, November 21, 2020 at her residence.

The family will greet friends on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at 1:30 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at the Leaday Cemetery Pavilion.  Interment will follow in the Leaday Cemetery.  A funeral procession will leave from Stevens Funeral Home to Leaday Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 24, 2020.  Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.  A come and go viewing will be held on Monday, November 23, 2020 from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home.

She was born Sammye Diane Monsey on June 23, 1939 in Mozelle to Gordon Monsey and Flora Alice Sloan Monsey.  She grew up in Mozelle and graduated from Mozelle High School in 1956.  Diane then attended Tarleton State University from 1956 to 1958 where she was the Tarleton Rodeo Queen in 1958.  Diane married Jerry Ralph Allen on March 26, 1960 at the Gouldbusk Methodist Church.  She worked many years at the Coleman County Water Supply where customers loved her kind spirit and infectious laugh.  Diane had a green thumb when taking care of her plants and gardening.  She worked along side Jerry on the family farm helping on the day to day chores that needed to be done.  Diane loved birds and always loved a funny story that could make her laugh.  Her laughter is something that her family and friends will always remember about her.  Diane loved her family and always supported her children and grandchildren in all their activities.  She was a lifelong resident of Coleman County and a member of the Leaday Baptist Church.  Her beautiful smile, kind spirit, and laughter will be missed by all who knew her.

Diane is joined in heaven by her parents, Gordon and Flora Monsey; her sisters, Mozelle Williams, Bobbye Thweatt, and Bettye Jamison; and her best friend, Margaret Wheeler Keeling.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Allen of Gouldbusk; her sons, Kevin Allen and wife Ronda of Coleman, James Allen and Stacie Vasquez  of Mozelle, Danny Allen and wife Kim of May, and Donny Allen and wife Gloria of Voss; eight grandchildren, Keva Wright and husband Chase, Kenna Stevenson and husband Adam, Gus Allen, Jett Allen, Matthew Allen, Lauren Allen, Boone Allen, and Alissa Allen; and her great-grandchildren, Amos and Hardy Stevenson; and her precious dog, Bea.

Memorials are suggested in memory of Diane to the Leaday Cemetery Association, 317 Trinity, Coleman, Texas 76834.
