Daniel Neil Hudson, affectionately known as Dan, was born on September 5, 1959, in Coleman, Texas. He peacefully departed this world on January 16, 2026, at Holiday Hill Nursing Home, surrounded by the loving presence of his family.

Dan was a dedicated employee for TXDOT, working as a surveyor, inspector, designer, and calculator. His professional contributions were marked by his steadfast commitment to quality and precision in his work. Dan’s dedication to his profession was paralleled by his passion for learning; he graduated from Coleman High School in 1978 where he excelled both academically and athletically. A remarkable runner, he left a lasting legacy with a record mile time of four minutes and 27 seconds. Continuing his academic journey, Dan graduated from McMurry University in 1982 with a degree in history, reflecting his deep appreciation for the past and fervor for knowledge.

Beyond academics and work, Dan was known for his loving and outgoing nature. He had a zest for life that was evident in his many interests. Dan cherished the outdoors and found joy in scuba diving, running, and kayaking. His hobbies also included a passion for classic cars, particularly his beloved 1970 Dodge Charger, and he enjoyed the timeless music of The Eagles. Family gatherings were a highlight for Dan, where he relished the moments spent with loved ones, taking long walks with his dog, and sharing laughter that was often rooted in many fond memories, including the lighthearted jest about his frugality.

Dan is survived by his sister, Linda Thaxton and her husband George of Stamford, and his brother, David Hudson and his wife Patricia of Abilene. He held great affection for his nieces and nephew: Ann Marie Hudson and her partner Bo Atkinson, Adrienne Hudson McGrath and her husband John, Sarah Hudson, and Wesley Hudson. He is also remembered fondly by many cousins and friends who were touched by his warmth and kindness.

Dan is preceded in death by his parents, Neil Hudson and Marie Casey Hudson, who undoubtedly played an essential role in shaping the caring individual he became.

Dan Hudson's legacy is marked by his vibrant spirit, love for family, and passion for life. He will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him and will forever hold a special place in their hearts.
