Connie Holbert, cherished wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on June 26, 2026. While she left us too soon, we will always remember her beautiful smile, quick wit and sense of humor. She was born Constance Elaine Kennedy on August 21, 1953, in Fort Worth, Texas to Charles and Faye Kennedy. Her journey—a tapestry of gentle joys, steadfast relationships, and heartfelt service—leaves behind a legacy cherished by all who had the privilege to know her.

Connie’s early years were spent in Lubbock, where she attended school and graduated from Lubbock High School. Those formative years nurtured in her a quiet determination and unshakable integrity that would come to shape both her family and her remarkable professional path. She met Joe Holbert and a romance was born. In 1981, they were married at her parents’ house in Lubbock and in 1996 bought their piece of heaven in Coleman County.

Connie began her career with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, now known as A.T. & T.—where she ultimately retired in 2003 as the operations clerk for the Midland. Always an advocate for her colleagues and friends, Connie served as Union Steward for the Communication Works of America (CWA and held several offices with Telecom Pioneers, providing guidance and care throughout her career. Her commitment in these roles reflected the warmth and loyalty that defined her presence everywhere she went.

Connie’s personal life was a gentle testament to devotion and simple happiness. She enjoyed fishing, in fact she was the one that picked out the boats her and Joe owned over the years. Connie was also an avid crossword puzzler and enjoyed sitting on the porch with Joe by her side watching the hummingbirds and deer that frequented their home.

Her family was the cornerstone of her world. She is survived by Joe Holbert, her loving husband and companion through life’s seasons; her brother, Kevin, children, Katherine and husband, Ken, Jeff and wife, Christine, Leann and husband, Matthew and Craig, and wife, Lisa. Connie’s heart was also forever full thanks to her nine grandchildren, Michael, Brittney, Dusty, Jesse, Katelynn, David, Ainsley and Brenley, as well as seven great grandchildren with one more expecting to make their debut later this year. She also leaves behind cousins whom she loved dearly. Each of them carries forward her kindness, her patience, and her gift for finding beauty in the little things.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Edward Kennedy and Faye Nordyke Kennedy, whom she loved deeply and honored throughout her life.

The family invites all who knew Connie to join in celebrating her life with a visitation, which will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman, Texas, followed immediately by funeral services at 2:00 p.m. at the same location.

Connie Holbert’s life story is one of quiet strength, unwavering loyalty, and gentle affection. Her memory will forever linger in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
