Buster Diaz

November 3, 1925 — July 24, 2017

Buster Diaz, 91, of Coleman, died Monday, July 24, 2017 at Coleman County Medical Center. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman, with Rev. Dick Schultz officiating. Burial will be in the Coleman City Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

He was born Buster Enriquez Diaz on November 3, 1925 in Whon, Coleman County, to Paul and Manuela Enriquez Diaz. He grew up and attended school in Coleman. He honorably served in the United States Army in World War II, while being stationed in Japan. Buster was also stationed in Korea during the Korean War. Buster married Aurora Suniga in September, 1951 in Georgetown.

Buster was a farmer and sheared sheep. He loved teaching members of the 4-H Club about shearing sheep and helping them with their 4-H projects. Buster helped anyone in need and gave anyone that asked an opportunity to work for him. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Buster is survived by his wife, Aurora Diaz of Coleman; twelve children, Diana Umana of Brownwood, Richard Diaz of Bangs, Elizabeth Vences of Houston, Felix Diaz of Coleman, Dorsey Bustamante of Brady, Silvia Diaz of Brady, Dora Diaz of Dallas, Emilio Diaz of Coleman, Mary Lou Diaz of Brownwood, Judy Espitia of Winters, Jimmy Diaz of Coleman and Joey Diaz of Houston. Also surviving are 43 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and four great-great-great grandchildren.

Besides his parents, Buster was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters, Sophia, Lupita, Pauline, Daniel, Eva, Trinidad, Thomas, Pablo; one daughter, Leticia Diaz; one granddaughter, Becky Diaz and one grandson, Anthony Guel.

There will be a visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, July 29, 2017 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel.
