Bobby Davis

April 18, 1940 — January 24, 2024

Glen Cove

Bobby Davis, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on January 24th, 2024, at the age of 83, at Hendrick Medical Center South in Abilene. Born on April 18th, 1940, in Albany, Texas, Bobby led a life filled with hard work, dedication, and love for his family.

Bobby worked tirelessly as an oil and gas pumper for many years before dedicating over three decades of his life to the Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT). His commitment and work ethic were unmatched, leaving a lasting impact on his colleagues and the community.

Outside of work, Bobby was a sincere and compassionate soul. He was a devoted member of the Glen Cove Baptist Church, where he served as the beloved song leader for many years. He found joy in lending his voice to the congregation and connecting with his faith.

In addition to his spiritual pursuits, Bobby generously volunteered his time at the Glen Cove Fire Department. His desire to serve his community knew no bounds, and his selflessness touched the lives of many.

Beyond his responsibilities and volunteer work, Bobby found solace in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid fisherman, finding peace and tranquility in the great outdoors. Tending to his cattle and embracing farm life brought him immense joy, as he found fulfillment in working with the land.

Bobby is preceded in death by his parents, William Homer Davis and Ruby Lou Simmons Davis; one grandson, Dustin Speckels; and his siblings, H.N. Davis and wife June, Grady Davis, Raymond Davis, and Maggie Palmer and husband Eddie.

Bobby is survived by his loving wife, Betsy Davis, and their children: Alan Davis and wife Tawnya, Ricky Davis and wife Lisa, Rodney Davis and wife Shelli, and Taina Bonilla and husband Rojelio. He was a proud grandfather to Trent Davis, Tara Davis, Taya Monroe, Hannah Bullock, Abby Davis, Lily Davis, Kristi Bonilla, Anthony Bonilla, and great-grandfather to Kelan Speckels, Brylee Speckels, Carter Davis, Harper Davis, Emerson Davis, Conner Kershner, Journey Hurtado, Jaxten Hurtado, and Lorenna Bullock. His memory will also be cherished by his extended family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

The family will host a visitation from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel. Family and friends are invited to a funeral service celebrating his life at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 28, 2024, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Shields and Scott Beaver officiating.
