Novice

Billie Wright died on February 24, 2022 in Coleman, Texas.  Funeral services will be graveside on Monday, February 28, at 1:30 p.m. at the Rough Creek Cemetery Pavilion with her son, Dr. David L. Wright, Jr., officiating.  Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home, Coleman.

She was born Billie Jean Brooks to Leonard P. and Madine W. Brooks of May 5, 1929., in Coleman, Texas.  She was raised near Novice and attended Novice school, graduating in 1946.  She attended Sul Ross University, Hardin-Simmons University and Texas Christian University.

She married David L. Wright at her home on October 2, 1948, and they were married 73 years.  During their marriage they lived in several west Texas towns and also Hobbs, New Mexico.  She was active in her church, having been both a Presbyterian and a Methodist.  At the time of her death, she was a member of the Novice United Methodist Church in Novice.

She was wife, mother, daughter, grandmother and great-grandmother, a Christian, and a Democrat.

She is survived by her husband David and two sons, Dr. David L. Wright, Jr. and his wife Cathy, and William L. Wright and his wife Dotsy.  She has 3 grandchildren, Brooke Deacon and her husband Jon, Christopher L. Wright and his wife Kayla, and David Charles Wright and his wife Mindi.  She is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Rylie and Andrew Deacon and Zoe Mae, Charlee Marie and Fynn Taylor Wright.
