Billie McClure

Billie McClure passed away March 1, 2018 at Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Grapevine. There will be a visitation from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Stevens Funeral Chapel with Rev. Gary Boyd officiating. Burial will be in the Coleman City Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

She was born Billie O’Connell on March 17, 1923 in Cedar Gap. She lived in Abilene all of her childhood and graduated from Abilene High School in 1941. She married Charles Preston McClure on June 8, 1942 and they lived most of their married life in Coleman, after Preston completed his military duty. They had two children, Cindy McClure of Coppell and Ronnie McClure of Fort Worth.

Billie was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Coleman. She retired from Coleman ISD, where she had been a secretary at Coleman High School for many years. In 2013, Billie moved to the Dallas/Fort Worth area to be close to her children and grandchildren.

Billie was preceded in death by her husband, Preston; her sister, Helen O’Connell Hooker; her brother, Daniel Thomas O’Connell; her parents, E.H. (Pat) O’Connell and Pluma Elizabeth O’Connell.

She is survived by her daughter, Cindy and her partner, Linda Yarbrough, of Coppell, her son, Ronnie and daughter-in-law, Diane, of Fort Worth; one granddaughter, Micah Coe and husband, Jason, of Azle and their children, Hannah Grace Coe, Joshua Preston Coe, Jason Allan Coe, Caitlin Marie Coe; one grandson, Dr. Matthew McClure and his fiancée, Dr. Maurene Hart of East Patchogue, New York.
