Bill D. Sneed, a cherished member of the Coleman community and a dedicated banker, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at Hendrick Hospice Care in Abilene, Texas, surrounded by his family. Born on May 21, 1934, in Runnels County, Texas, Bill lived a life marked by service, kindness, and unwavering commitment to those around him.

Bill grew up in Runnels and Coleman County, graduating from Coleman High School in 1951. Pursuing his passion for banking, he furthered his education at the S.M.U. School of Banking, equipping himself for a distinguished career. Bill’s professional journey began in September 1955 when he joined First Coleman National Bank. His exemplary work and leadership skills led him to be promoted first to Vice President and later to President of the bank. Over more than 45 years, Bill not only helped countless individuals navigate their financial lives but also forged lifelong friendships, leaving a lasting impact on the Coleman community.

Beyond his banking career, Bill was a proud veteran, having served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. His dedication to service extended into his community involvement, where he contributed as a member of the Texas Sheep and Goat Raisers Association, Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, Coleman Rotary Club, the Coleman Rodeo Association, Breeder-Feeder and the EDC Board of Directors. Bill’s commitment was further demonstrated through his advisory role at Holiday Hill Nursing Home and perhaps one of his greatest contributions to Coleman County was as a founding member of the Coleman County Special Utility District, which enabled Coleman County to have a continuous and expansive supply of water.

Those who knew Bill remember him as a kind and generous man, always ready to lend a hand to a friend or neighbor in need. His love for the outdoors was evident in his hobbies—ranching, riding and raising horses, stock showing with his daughters, roping cattle, and always grateful for the opportunity to enjoy the open land that he so deeply cherished.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William Edgar Sneed and Lonnie Brown Sneed; his two wives, LaJuan Sneed and Ginger Sneed; and his siblings, J.T., Bunk, Quention, Jack, K.V., Noris, Eura, Irene, Mae, and Doris.

He is lovingly survived by his daughters Sheila Sneed Franke, Sue Ellen Sneed Bohler, and Sharon Sneed Hicks and her husband Bill. Bill’s heart was full of love and pride for his grandchildren: Jake Franke, Jane Morrison and her husband Tye, Jare Smith, Claire Hastings and her husband Jonathan, Carson Bohler, Sheridan Sneed Gleason and her husband Matt, Brandon Hicks, Briley Hicks and wife Haley and Brenna Hicks Adams and her husband Russell. He also delighted in his many great-grandchildren: Collins, Brand, Colby, Makenna, Corbin, Titus, Briella, Gianna, Rhiannon, Samuel, Zoe, Ace, Pryce, Tate, Tag, Christian, Hollis, Carter, Callen, and Maximus.

A Celebration of Life for Bill will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Bill Franklin Center, located at 13152 Texas Highway 206, Coleman, Texas 76834. This gathering will honor a man whose life was defined by dedication, generosity, and a profound love for his family and community.

Bill D. Sneed’s legacy will continue through the many lives he touched and the community he helped build. His memory remains a guiding light for all who had the privilege to know him.
