Betty Verlyn (Kidd) Vaughn

Betty Kidd Vaughn, 90, of Coleman, died Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Holiday Hill Nursing Home in Coleman.  You may join the family from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Sunday, January 24, 2021 at Community Baptist Church for lunch and fellowship.  There will be a visitation starting at 1:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 24, 2021 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman, with Bro. Don Harmes officiating.  Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home, Coleman.

She was born Betty Verlyn Kidd on September 27, 1930 in Pinedale, Arizona to Alton Boyd (A.B.) Kidd and Fleeta Olive Sikes Kidd.  Betty and her family moved to Coleman County, where she attended school in Coleman and graduated from Novice High School.  On June 12, 1948, Betty married Floyd W. Vaughn in Silver Valley.  Floyd preceded her in death on November 10, 2011 in Medford, Oregon.

Betty was an accomplished hostess, seamstress and an inventive cook.  She enjoyed warm weather, the beach and times with her sisters and family.

Betty is survived by her children, Viki Allen and husband, Don, of Coleman, Valarie Fenske and husband, Steven, of Owasso, Oklahoma, Stephen Vaughn and wife, Connie, of Rapid City, South Dakota, Jeff Vaughn and wife, Rene’ of Cabool, Missouri, Vanessa Murphy and husband, Durward “Bo”, of Medford, Oregon and one sister, Patty Cates of The Woodlands.  Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren;  brother-in-law, Don Vaughn of Flower Mound and she was loved by all her nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, Alton “Blackie” Kidd and two sisters, Doris Hudson and Bobbye Straach.

Memorial donations in memory of Betty may be made to Coleman Home Health and Hospice, 406 West Elm Street, Coleman, Texas 76834.
