Betty Zane (Terry) Garrett

Betty Zane Garrett, 87, of Coleman, TX entered into the Lord’s peaceful rest on Monday, October 22, 2018.

Born September 1, 1931 in Coleman, Texas to William David Terry and Ola Mae (Hinds) Terry.  She graduated from Mozelle High School in May, 1949.  She married Joe Cloyd Garrett also from Coleman on September 14, 1951.  The couple went on to raise two sons, Monte Zane and Terry Joe Garrett.  After her sons grew up, Joe and Betty moved to Childress, TX and later lived in several locations in Oklahoma.  She continued living several years in Oklahoma after her husband’s passing in 1999. Betty and her two small dogs Bo and Little Bit moved home to Coleman to be close to her best friend and cousin, Janie Pyburn.  Betty spent her last few years living at the Holiday Hill Nursing Home.

Betty joins her husband, Joe Garrett; son, Terry Joe; parents, William and Ola Mae Terry; her brothers, Billie Joe and John David Terry; grandson, Jody B. Garrett; and a lifetime of many dear friends and family members.

She is survived by her son, Monte Zane Garrett and his wife, Jan.  Grandchildren, Stacy Kempf and Chad Garrett along with several great grandchildren; and Janie Pyburn, her beloved cousin and best friend.

Betty’s family would like to thank the entire staff at Holiday Hill Nursing Home for their tireless devotion and efforts to make the last years of her life as enjoyable and carefree as possible.

There will be a visitation beginning at 12 noon on Monday, October 29.  The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel with Bob Martin, of Elm Street Church of Christ,  officiating.   Burial will follow at the Coleman City Cemetery.
