Berenda Beth Cason-Brown of Shreveport, Louisiana, passed away at “The Oaks of Louisiana" nursing home on the morning of January 4th, 2026.

She was born May 7th, 1939, to Dewey and Maggie Cason in Colman Texas. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Kenneth, Dewey Mack, Zola Clydene, Lanora Maxine, Billy Dee, and baby Cason.

She is survived by Donna Helberg of McLoud Oklahoma, John and Teri Helberg of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Lewis and Patty Helberg of Denver, Colorado. Berenda had three children, seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Berenda was active both professionally and politically throughout her life. She had a love of cooking and was an outstanding chef. She collected and utilized several cultural cooking and serving sets to allow her to prepare food in multiple ethnic diversities. She had a love of reading and her interests varied from Classic Literature, poems, oriental (Feng Shui and I Ching), history and included Physics texts. Berenda loved to garden and had a beautiful garden at her home in Shreveport.

Berenda grew and flourished through the years to become a strong and independent woman who inspired many people she encountered. She had many different careers which included Restaurant owner, Transportation Director, Insurance agent, and Business planning and consulting. Her personality allowed her to develop many long-lasting and meaningful relationships.

A private family service will be held. Arrangements are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.
