Barcus Bunyan Nunley, Jr., affectionately known as "B.B.", was born on April 21, 1939, in Coleman, Texas. He left this world peacefully on December 22, 2025, at Coleman County Medical Center.
B.B. devoted many years of his life to social work, with a particular focus on psychiatric care. His professional journey was marked by a deep commitment to helping others, showcasing his compassionate nature and unwavering dedication to those in need. B.B. was proud of his career, which stood as a testament to his caring spirit and desire to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
Growing up in Coleman, B.B. attended Coleman High School, graduating in 1957. Following this, he pursued higher education at Tarleton State University and the University of Texas, where he earned a master's degree in social work. His academic achievements laid a solid foundation for a career that resonated with his values.
In addition to his considerable contributions in his professional life, B.B. remained an active member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, nurturing a keen sense of community and fellowship. He exhibited a quiet and reserved personality, often reflecting the warmth he felt for his friends and the people around him. His kind demeanor left a lasting impression on many who had the privilege of knowing him.
B.B. also proudly served in the Texas Army Guard, an experience that added to his rich life narrative and marked his dedication to service both in civilian life and beyond.
He is survived by his beloved sister, Margaret Ann Nunley of Austin, who remembers him with great love and fondness. B.B. is preceded in death by his parents, B.B. Nunley, Sr. and Margaret Parker Nunley, and his brother, Parker Nunley, all of whom he cherished deeply.
As we remember B.B., we honor a man who lived a life of purpose and compassion. His contributions to his community and the lives he touched through his professional and personal endeavors will always be remembered with respect and admiration.
At B.B.’s request, no formal service will be held. Arrangements and cremation care are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.
